This Friday, July 3, 2020, through a virtual meeting, the first reunion of the Ibero-American Progressive Parliamentary Group of the “Grupo de Puebla” will take place on a political space created by its own initiative. The main objective of this Progressive Parliamentary Group is to develop and articulate legislative initiatives of the members, so that these can later be translated into draft resolutions, declarations and laws onto the respective countries; as well as advisory and analysis based upon issues related to the legislative field.
The Progressive Parliamentary Group is conformed by the founding legislators of the Puebla Group, as well as other invited parliamentarians. Twenty-four parliamentarians are expected to participate, including senators, deputies, and national assembly members, from 10 countries in the Latin American region.
At this first meeting, the approval of the constitutive declaration of the space is expected, as well as a declaration approving the joint presentation of legislative initiatives urging the governments of the region to consider the vaccine and treatments for COVID19 as public goods of universal and free access, guaranteeing their availability and distribution to the entire population.
