The Grupo de Puebla states its profound worry facing the detentions, incarcerations and the beginning of judiciary procedures against public workers, leaders and militant members of political and social movements that do not agree with the Government, which have taken place since the end of October’s national strike in Ecuador. Up to this date, such criminal procedures chase have taken place against Paola Pabón, Virgilio Hernández and Christian González, who have been accused of the felony of armed rebellion, for supposedly being leaders of October’s strike, which has not been proved.
From the Grupo the Puebla we demand the competent judiciary authorities to allow Paola Pabón to exercise her defense in freedom, in the same way as Christian González and Virgilio Hernández, since they have not violated the rules of their precautionary measures. We will remain vigilant of political judicial procedures which might take place in violation of International Law of Human Rights.
