The Grupo de Puebla continues its growth after the regional impact it had at a political and social level after its creation. This is how its growth continues and this Friday, July 3rd, it presented a new space of articulation: The Ibero-American Progressive Parliamentary Group of The Grupo de Puebla, with more than thirty legislators from 14 countries of Ibero-America.
This instance summons the founding parliamentarians, assembly members or congressmen of The Grupo de Puebla, as well as guests, that seek together to exchange and coordinate experiences for the purpose of developing, articulating and being a factor of change in the legislative initiatives of the progressive members in their own countries.
During the activity, the congressmen discussed the legislative panorama at an Ibero-American level and the actions that can be carried out to generate progressive policies that will help the most vulnerable citizens. This is made possible by the parliamentary participation that the conglomerate will have in the various countries in which it is represented.
The different political references that met today also analyzed how the different legislations have been able to resist the attacks that Covid-19 has caused at social and economic levels.
Following this line of action, the Ibero-American Progressive Parliamentary Group of The Grupo de Puebla finished its session discussing the actions that the administrations of the different countries should take on the development of a vaccine to fight Covid-19:
1) To request the Ibero-American governments and regional multilateral bodies to consider the vaccine and treatments to cure Covid-19 as public goods of universal and free access, guaranteeing its availability and distribution to the entire population.
2) To approve the joint and coordinated presentation, both before national legislative bodies and regional integration bodies, of legislative initiatives that urge the executive authorities of our countries to declare the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine and other possible effective treatments as public goods, universal and free of charge, and to adopt policies that ensure free access to the vaccine in our countries, guaranteeing its fair distribution.
